Associate Justices
The Palauan Constitution provides that the Court consist of a Chief Justice and at least three Associate Justices. The Associate Justices work on both criminal and civil cases and at the trial and appellate levels. Not surprisingly, a justice who presided over the trial cannot hear the same case on appeal. In case of a conflict, the Chief Justice can designate a part-time Associate Justice or Associate Justice pro tem to appellate panels.
